Hinterland is located in St. Charles, Iowa, just 30 minutes south of Des Moines. 

‍Take I-35 to St. Charles, Iowa, then use the route assigned to your parking pass, even if your GPS suggests differently. Road closures and traffic patterns are in place throughout the festival weekend, and following festival signage will get you to your lot (or home) the fastest.

Box Office: If you need to go to the Box Office to pick up passes, follow the North Route Exit 56 then follow signage for Box Office Gate C.

When You Arrive‍

Parking pass window stickers and festival wristbands are required to enter the parking lots.

‍‍Place your parking sticker on the driver’s side front windshield before you arrive, and make sure everyone in your vehicle is wearing their wristband.

Don’t have a window sticker or wristband, or did you purchase your pass after July 12? Before going to the parking lot, head to the Box Office onsite (Gate C with temporary parking) or offsite (Tuesday only at Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines)

‍ADA Parking is located just west of the South Entrance. Please enter through Gate F and show your valid DMV issued accessible parking placard or license plate and Hinterland parking or camping pass for access to these areas. Transportation is unavailable from General Day Parking, Tent Only, and Car Camping areas. If you have any accessibility related concerns, please reach out to us at access@hinterlandiowa.com

Hiking Trails to Parking Lots
‍The festival grounds are connected by hiking trails. Closed toed shoes are highly encouraged for the walk from the parking lots to the venue. It’s a lovely stroll, but no one likes rocks in their sandals!

‍Always walk along the marked hiking trails. Walking along Highway G50 is NOT permitted for your safety.

Requesting Accommodations and Accessibility Wristbands
Guests with disabilities or a special medical need, can request these accommodations by emailing access@hinterlandiowa.com. Advance request by July 10th is recommended to ensure availability. Once you arrive, please visit the ADA check-in tent just outside of the South Entrance to finish registering and receive your Accessibility Wristband - this wristband will allow access to our available accommodations. One companion wristband is also available. Children under the age of 18 will be allowed as additional companions. There is not an accessibility ticket that needs to be purchased to utilize accommodations.

We accept requests for any of the following services:

- ASL Interpretation

- Other forms of Effective Communication (such as:  live captioning, large format print/braille literature, guided tours for guests with visual disabilities, assistive listening devices, or any other accommodation not listed)

To ensure adequate time for planning, requests for these services should be made by July 10th. While we will strive to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee fulfillment after the cutoff date. To submit a request, please fill out the 2026 Effective Communication Request Form.

Once you arrive, please check-in at the Accessibility Services Hub to be connected with our interpreting team.

Parking
A separate accessibility parking lot is available for attendees with a valid government-issued persons with disability parking placard, permit, or license plate. For ADA parking, purchase an ADA Parking Pass at hinterlandiowa.com/tickets.

Viewing Area
An accessible viewing area with shade, small bar, folding chairs, accessible restrooms, and a water filling station is located inside the festival grounds.

Sensory Supportive Space
A tented space where sensory stimuli is more controlled for folks that may need a break or an opportunity to regulate.

Chairs
Chairs with legs are not allowed in festival grounds. However, if you have a medical need, you may bring your own from home. All chairs must have a tag from ADA Services.

Portable Toilets and Showers
Accessible portable toilets are located throughout the festival. Accessible showers are also offered (showers are available to all guests for a fee).

Charging Medical Devices
You are welcome to bring your powered medical device to ADA Services for recharging. Please note that staff are not responsible for devices left charging.

First Aid
First Aid tents are located in the festival grounds & campgrounds and staffed by trained personnel to provide any medical aid needed.

Food & Drink
Outside food or drink are not allowed in festival grounds. However, if you require special accommodation for dietary restrictions, please visit ADA Services for assistance.

Coolers
If you have medical related items or breastmilk that requires a cooler within the festival concourse, please visit the ADA Services tent for an accessibility tag.

Shuttles
The Des Moines Shuttle will have buses in rotation that have ADA accommodations and will drop off at the ADA Parking Lot.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted throughout the venue. However, this does not include emotional support animals, therapy animals, or companion animals. Only legitimate service animals that are properly trained and under the proper care of their owners will be provided with the appropriate credentials.

The following guidelines must be followed:

• All service animals must be registered with the ADA department upon entry into the event. Please ask a security guard to call ADA upon entry.
• All service animals must remain by the handler's side at all times and must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered. If these devices interfere with the service animal's work or if the handler's disability prevents the use of these devices, the handler must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls
• Service animals must be housebroken
• Anyone bringing an animal will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal
• All service animals should have legally required vaccinations (which ADA staff may ask to see for verification)

Please note that we do not allow outside food or drink inside the festival venue. You are allowed to bring your own food & drink into the camping areas. If you require special accommodation for dietary restrictions, please make this request by emailing access@hinterlandiowa.com. Advance request by July 10th is recommended.

• All sales are final - no refunds or exchanges.
• Only wristbands purchased through AXS are valid for entry. If you purchased from an unauthorized source or have a counterfeit wristband, entry will not be permitted.
• Wristbands must be worn securely on your wrist and cannot be slipped on or off.
• Keep your wristband on for the entire festival—it must not be removed, stretched, or tampered with, as doing so will void entry.
• To re-enter the festival on the same day, your wristband must be scanned upon exiting.
• Wristbands are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

Lost or Damaged Wristbands?
No worries! They can be replaced one time only for the original purchaser, for a $25 replacement fee. Just head to our Box Office and they'll get you taken care of. Please bring a photo ID (or picture of the photo ID) of the original purchaser.

• Counterfeit or duplicated wristbands will be confiscated by security.
• This wristband policy is strictly enforced, and there are no exceptions.

Your wristband is your ticket to an incredible experience! Please treat it with care-it's a revocable license, and entry may be denied or revoked for non-compliance with festival policies or protocols. Check out Hinterland's Miniland! Curated by Des Moines' own Ramona Muse Lambert, Miniland is a creative experience for all, focused on DIY art, music, and a welcoming spot for families to gather throughout the festival.

All festival long, guests are invited to try their hand at button making, patch making, keychain construction, and contributing to our bootleg Hinterland flyer wall. All are welcome to draw on our giant inflatable bear, hop in the photobooth, and give our artist-made carnival games a whirl.

Families can find some relief in our chill zone, make a Miniland kids pass, weave rainbow loom bracelets, free draw, grab an activity bag to go, and pick up a Hinterland activity newspaper while supplies last.

You can also come visit the Miniland Stage each day for a unique mix of musical performances, unconventional instrument demonstrations, and more!

First Aid tents are located throughout the festival & campgrounds and staffed by trained personnel to provide any medical aid needed. In case of an emergency, notify any staff member or our security team. When in doubt: see something, say something.

Remember:
- Drink water early and often. Stay hydrated so you can enjoy the show all day long.
- Take advantage of the shade and cooling areas located around the venue.
- Don't hesitate to ask a staff member for help. They are there to help you have fun and keep you safe.

Accessible Parking
ADA Parking provides convenient access to designated parking spaces in the ADA Parking Lot for attendees with valid accessibility credentials. To use these spaces, a valid government-issued persons with disability parking placard, permit, or license plate is required. Purchase an ADA Parking Pass. 

Shuttles
The Des Moines Shuttle will have buses in rotation that have ADA accommodations and will drop off at the festival.

Festival gates open daily at 12pm. Gate lines may begin forming at 10am; earlier arrivals will be redirected to the campgrounds.

Hinterland's 90 Degree Guarantee allows ticket holders the option to request festival admission ticket returns for any day that is predicted to reach 90° or higher.

If on Monday 7/26 at 10am CT, the weather.gov forecast for 7/30, 7/31, or 8/1 has a true temperature of 90° or higher for the 50240 zip code, ticket purchasers will have the option to request a return of their festival admission ticket for that day. Return requests are only available for the day/s the forecast is 90° or higher. 3-Day ticket holders can request a return for specific day/s at a rate of 1/3 of the total 3-Day ticket price.

Starting Monday, July 26 at 10:00 AM CT you will be able to complete a 90 Degree Guarantee Ticket Return Request Form at hinterlandiowa.com/tickets. To guarantee your return you must submit the form before 5:00 PM CT on Tuesday, July 27.

Eligible returns will be processed within approximately 14 days.

Hinterland's Commitment to Climate Awareness:

Showers will be available for purchase (credit card only). Showers are located just east of Dollar General along the festival trail.‍

You are welcome to breastfeed or pump anywhere on festival grounds. There will also be a nursing and pumping area located in Miniland.

If you have medical related items or breastmilk that requires a cooler within the festival concourse, please visit the ADA Services tent for an accessibility tag.

Accessible Car and Tent Only Camping locations are available for guests with disabilities, as well as preferred spots within the RV campground. Please see our map for the location of the reserved ADA camping area. To camp in this area, you must have a valid government-issued persons with disability parking placard, permit, or license plate, and purchase an ADA Camping pass. There is a fixed amount of ADA camping spots in this area, so please do not purchase this pass if you do not need it on account of a disability. If you have a special medical need, it must be requested in advance by July 10th or it may not be available. You may email access@hinterlandiowa.com.

Explore our new hiking trails throughout the campgrounds. With nearly 3.5 miles of beautifully wooded paths, the trails are more than just a way to get where you’re going they’re a destination all their own.

Along the way, you’ll find plenty of surprises, including covered bridges, art installations, lemonade stands, a silent disco, a disc golf course and more. The trails will be lit at night, making them easy to enjoy throughout the festival weekend. After Hinterland, the trails will remain open year-round for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Rideshares and all pickup/dropoffs must happen at the designated rideshare location and parking lot inside Gate C.

Exit 52 off-ramps are closed Thurs, July 30 – Sun, Aug 2. Road closures and traffic patterns are in place throughout the festival weekend, and following festival signage will get you to your lot (or home) the fastest.

Every person, vehicle and belonging entering the festival or camp grounds is subject to a full airport-style search, which may include a magnetometer screening and/or pat-down.

These items are NOT allowed in campgrounds:

NO weapons of any kind
NO pyro stuff (No tiki torches, fireworks or the like, please)
NO glass
NO pets (service animals are welcome, see policy)
NO selling stuff, unlicensed vending, sponsor tents
NO swimming in the pond
NO vehicles in Tent Campgrounds

Join us for yoga daily (Thursday-Sunday) at 9 AM by the Campfire Stage. These Vinyasa yoga classes led by Mayce at Mindful Healing Co. will focus on connecting body with breath, relaxation, mindfulness, and letting go. After the flow, there will be a 10-15 minute sound bath during savasana to bring awareness inwards and fully immerse in the soothing sounds. All levels welcome, just bring a mat/towel & water. At Hinterland, we want our premium guests to feel their extra dollars were well spent. We think you'll love what we've put together! If you don't, you have options.

All 3-Day VIP and VIP+ purchasers will have the opportunity for a "Free Look" onsite after scanning in. If you decide within one hour of scanning into the festival that you aren't satisfied with the premium amenities, you can return your ticket or downgrade to a lower level. Simply visit the VIP Concierge Tent on the north side of the premium area.

To qualify for the Free Look Return Policy, purchasers must scan into the festival grounds by 6pm on Friday, July 30.

This policy only applies to 3-Day VIP and VIP+ festival admission tickets. It does not include camping, parking, or shuttle tickets. To qualify, tickets must have been purchased directly via AXS.com. Tickets purchased from a third-party are not eligible.

The only tickets we can guarantee are tickets purchased directly through our official ticketing partner, AXS.com.

We are unable to facilitate or provide support to tickets purchased from a third-party website or individual.

Please be aware that scammers often try to sell invalid tickets on Facebook, Instagram, StubHub, Vivid Seats, SeatGeek, Craigslist, and Marketplace by fake accounts. Tickets purchased through third-parties will not be accepted.

The party doesn’t stop after the main stage lights turn off. Stay tuned for your Campfire Stage 2027 lineup — live in the campground after hours. All ticket holders, not just campers, are welcome!

The entire festival grounds span about 2 miles from end to end, so be prepared to walk. There are designated hiking trails between campgrounds and parking lots. Closed toed shoes are highly encouraged for the walk from the parking lots to the venue. It’s a lovely stroll, but no one likes rocks in their sandals!

Walk on the festival hiking trail (marked on the map) to get around the campgrounds and from parking to festival grounds entrances. Walking along Highway G50 is NOT permitted for safety reasons.

There are three Information Tents inside the venue open daily 12 PM–8 PM, and one in Basecamp open daily from 10 AM–9 PM.

Hinterland is rain or shine. No refunds or exchanges. Only exceptions are the 90 Degree Guarantee and Free Look Policy for VIP.

The only tickets we can guarantee are tickets purchased directly through our official ticketing partner, AXS.com. We are unable to facilitate or provide support to tickets purchased from a third-party website or individual.

Keep in mind that if you're in Tent Camping or Glamping, your car will not be next to your tent. Bringing a wagon for transporting your stuff to and from the campsite is a great move.

Come relax in the shaded White Claw Hammock Hangout in the camping area. Bring your own hammock or use one of ours. All ticket holders are welcome!

Festival tickets are sold in tiers — same pass type, different price. This system rewards fans who buy early with the best prices.

Each tier offers the exact same access and benefits, but lower-priced tiers sell out first.

When you buy tickets:

- You may see multiple tiers listed. Choose the lowest available tier for the best price.
- Once a tier sells out, it's marked as unavailable and prices move to the next tier.
- Tiers can change quickly based on demand.

Power is not provided for campers. Please plan accordingly.

The only exception is that Glamping and Powered RV Campsites. Glamping includes a power strip with 20-amp service. Powered RV Campsites include a 50-amp power hookup. Bring your own adapter if your RV uses a 30-amp connection. They will not be available for sale.

Hinterland is a cashless festival. Activate your wristband prior to the festival and link a credit card/debit card for swift payments with all vendors by registering for cashless. This is the easiest way to pay for food, drinks, merch, and more. During the festival, order at any food, drink, or merch vendor and let them know you’re paying with your wristband. Tap your wristband, enter your PIN, and you’re done!

Dance it out in the woods at our Silent Disco. Located on the north side of the campgrounds by the Raccoon Run and Dragonfly Trails. It’s free for all ticket holders to participate. Open Wednesday-Sunday 12 PM–7 PM and 11 PM–3 AM.

Insider Tip: Stop by the nearby face-glitter stand and lemonade cart while you’re there.

Outside Food & Drink
You're welcome to bring your own food and drink into the campgrounds. We have a limit of three cases of either beer, boxes of wine, or liquor bottles per group. Please keep glass bottles at home. No outside food or drinks are allowed within the festival grounds, only the campgrounds.

Water
We'll have water refill stations throughout all the campgrounds and within the festival grounds. We encourage you to bring refillable water bottles or jugs.

Ice
Ice will be available for purchase.

Take a stroll to our new sunflower field for a great photo op or a relaxing place to enjoy the view. It is located just west of Car Camping.

‍

The last chance to buy tickets with a payment plan was Friday, May 29th. If you have questions about your existing payment plan, please reach out to AXS Support.

Buy Now and Pay Later is still currently available at AXS checkout via Klarna or PayPal.

Every RV entering the festival grounds requires an RV Campsite pass and cannot park in any other area. The following vehicles are considered an RV.

- Any size RV (motorhome): Class A, Class B or Class C
- Any size bus (no tour buses, prevosts, or motorcoaches with low clearance allowed)
- Any vehicle wider or longer than a normal 15 passenger van (230 x 80 x 80)
- Any vehicle towing a camper or 5th wheel of any size.
- If you're hitching anything, it's an RV. (Box trucks and trailers are not allowed into the campgrounds.)

All campers must exit the campgrounds by Monday at Noon.

Hinterland now offers one-time fresh water refill or pump out service during daylight hours for Powered and Non-Powered RV pass holders, for a fee. Services will be completed within 24 hours of purchase. Use this link or scan the QR codes onsite to request a service. Please provide your RV lot number and a description of your RV so our service team can locate you. You can also combine the services for a discount!
